Chasing vibrant colours and moods of New Zealand’s wild landscapes.

Hi! I’m Nick and I’m based in Canterbury, New Zealand.

I’ve been photographing landscapes since 2014 and am particularly drawn to the mountains, lakes and dramatic skies that New Zealand has to offer.

My passion for photography kicked off in 2014 after suffering a shoulder injury while out surfing . There were four of us mates who would surf most weekends but I was the only one with a car so would continue to drive us from Melbourne to Torquay most weekends for the next 4 months as I recovered. My wife suggested I take one of her cameras and photograph the lads ‘shredding’ waves (we never shredded) and that was it! For the next few months I became a surf photographer and the obsession with photography started to bubble away. I discovered landscape/travel photographer Trey Ratcliff and his tutorials shortly after and have been passionate about landscapes ever since.

My portfolio is dominated by bright and colourful sunrise/sunset photos but now that I’ve moved to the South Island (July 2025) I’m also chasing the moody conditions before and after storms come through. It’s an absolute dream to be living so close to mountains and I plan to make the most out of being here!

My other interests include boxing, F.I.R.E, darts, surfing, cars (JDM), raspberry buns, German Shepherds, collecting gemstones and hiking. I also have a good collection of basketball cards from the 1990’s (I was a fanboy of Grant Hill and the Detroit Pistons). Over the years I’ve dabbled in claymation, drifting, investing, collecting gins, and acquiring ultralight hiking gear.

If you like my photos you can buy photo prints, follow me on Instagram and Facebook, and check out my blog posts on the homepage.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers - Nick
